Nepal Kayak Club has been presenting this express series to the world’s kayakers. It’s an open extreme kayaking race with the motto of “Paddle It Before It Dries Out”. The idea behind the express series was to create awareness about the importance of free flowing river not just for the whitewater sports but for the nature and culture it supports. Thus, the express series comes to Modi khola (river) which is being suffocated by building dams for hydropower. Before the Modi Khola Express, we had the express series started with Marsyangdi and then to Bhote Koshi.
Like the years before, in Birethati we are going to organize the fifth edition of Modi Khola Express. the event has grown to the international level. We will be competing with our own fellows as well as the international kayakers from different nations. Therefore, the event presents an open opportunity for the athletes as well as locals to project themselves as product to the guests.
It’s more than a competition. It’s about encouragement of the athlete, educating and empowering the people. As the event location lies with in the Annapurna Conservation Area, people that sees this event can educate themselves about the importance of river. Nor than less it’s about sharing the river culture of Nepal and culture of locals with the fusion of modern culture of enjoying one life.
In summery, Modi Khola Express has the potentials to express Nepal through whitewater sports to the tourists and guests. So, make sure to be there to feel the extreme kayaking and cultural show. Remember the dates. No doubt, it’s going to be more exciting and fun than before.
